The features of the design proposal are eight campus scenarios: curiosity, enlightenment, propriety, intellect, chaos, nature, concentration and infinite, which demonstrate the prospect of 3.0 university, i.e. “University of Humanities” and “University of Innovation”, “University of Urbanity”. The integration of university and city gives Shenzhen a chance to transform from an economic special zone to a cultural special zone.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) is located in Universiade City in Longgang District, Shenzhen, with a total site area of 100.14 hectares. The site consists of three parts: upper campus, middle campus and lower campus. The floor are of Phase I is 300, 000 sqm and phase II 150,000 sqm.

To respond to “University of Humanities”, “ University of Innovation”, “University of Urbanity”, we proposed urban interface concept, together with existing mountain to form the green, pedestrian linkage and infrastructural networks. In our design will not only embody educational program, but also that of industrial and communal needs, such as incubator offices, theatres, exhibition and conference centers. The landscape design is manifested from the mountain, courtyards lies loosely in the campus, connecting to the university mall, creating layers of interaction. From there, a node system is formed to combine with landscape system. All these are the vivid descriptions of“ Couriosity-Enlightement-Propriety-Intellect-Chaos”.

We preserve the middle campus as its existing natural pattern to limn” Nature-Retreat” episodes.

To better reserve land for the next phase in development, staff housing in phase 1 and 2 of the development will be places in the upper campus to encourage a community to naturally form. We envisage that it will not only grow on its own, but also sustainably expand alongside the future development of the municipal center, to allow different scenarios to happen for a flexible and suitable “ Infinite” scenario to the future Longgang.
